Bill Green
Bill Green is the Managing Partner of Climate Adaptive Infrastructure (CAI), a leading infrastructure investment firm targeting large-scale, low-carbon infrastructure positioned to generate attractive returns while mitigating the structural risks and economic pressures of the climate crisis. CAI invests in resilient infrastructure that is designed from the outset to address the critical challenges we face in energy, water, and urban infrastructure systems.
Over his decades-long career in sustainable infrastructure, Bill recognized the impact of the accelerating climate crisis. In response, he led the CAI Team in developing tools to identify new investment opportunities while mitigating the risks posed by the accelerating climate crisis. CAI Fund I made a series of path-breaking, low-carbon infrastructure investments that draw on both conventional investment criteria and CAI's bespoke climate screens. The CAI screens are used in combination with an SFDR Article 9 framework to assess the economic viability of CAI infrastructure asset investments.
Prior to CAI, Bill served as CEO of MIC Renewable Energy Holdings (MREH), a project finance group within Macquarie Infrastructure Company, where he led the development and management of over $1 billion in renewable energy assets. He also served as Senior Managing Director of Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets. Prior to MREH, Bill co-founded VantagePoint’s CleanTech Practice, leading investments in companies including Tesla Motors, Miasole, and BrightSource Energy. He has also founded or co-founded four CleanTech companies, including Ecolink, a pioneer in ozone-depleting chemical alternatives.
Climate Adaptive Infrastructure
Climate Adaptive Infrastructure (CAI) is an investment firm that targets large-scale, low-carbon real asset investments in the energy, water, and urban infrastructure sectors. CAI seeks to combat systemic climate change by investing in projects that support the day-to-day needs of growing populations and address the “triple threat” of the climate crisis: physical risk, regulatory risk, and political risk. CAI coined the term ‘climate adaptive infrastructure’ to describe the future of real assets investing in a world that is increasingly focused on deep decarbonization. Led by Founder and Managing Partner Bill Green, the Firm also includes a deeply experienced team of professionals who have dedicated their careers to sustainable infrastructure investment, asset operations, and policy in the energy, water, and environmental sectors.
