Dominic Helmsley

Head of Economic Infrastructure , Aberdeen

Dominic heads up the Economic Infrastructure team at Aberdeen. He has over 30 years’ experience in the infrastructure sector, combining extensive mergers and acquisitions experience with asset management expertise. Dominic spent 12 years with BAA plc where he headed their international acquisitions group and oversaw the acquisition and management of a number of overseas investments. Dominic then spent eighteen years in the fund management industry, initially with Babcock and Brown, as part of the European Infrastructure team, and then as a Partner with Arcus Infrastructure Partners, which completed an MBO from Babcock and Brown in 2009. Dominic left Arcus to establish an infrastructure team at SL Capital Partners, part of Standard Life Investments, and for the last 10 years he has led that business successfully raising and deploying three funds to date. The business now sits within Aberdeen plc following the merger of Standard Life and Aberdeen Asset Management.

 

Aberdeen Economic Infrastructure

Aberdeen’s Economic Infrastructure business focuses on European lower mid-market Core/Core+ infrastructure assets across Energy, Digital and Transport sectors.
The team is led by Dominic Helmsley with an experienced dedicated team of 23 investment professionals, along with portfolio directors and professionals across legal, finance, operations, and compliance. In addition, an extensive panel of 17 senior advisors provide ongoing support to the business.

The team is part of Aberdeen Group plc, one of Europe’s largest asset managers with over £500 billion of assets.

The Economic Infrastructure team manage over €3 billion of assets and have successfully invested three funds, with assets across the rolling stock, solar, hydro, district heating, storage, and fibre sectors. The team will launch their 4th flagship fund in 2026. The fund will build on the successful strategies adopted by the prior funds and will capitalise on the key macro infrastructure themes of energy transition, transport de-carbonisation and digitisation.
