John Carey
John joined L&G’s Asset Management division in 2023 and leads the infrastructure debt team in Europe. The team originates and structures European infrastructure debt across investment and sub-investment grade, as part of the firm’s Private Credit strategy. John has held a number of roles in the infrastructure industry since 2001, across banking, advisory and credit ratings at Barclays, KPMG and Moody’s respectively. Most recently, John spent over eight years at IFM investors, where he led on European infrastructure debt origination. Specifically in the transition arena, John has led on over £1 billion of debt investment into critical decarbonisation assets across the power, heat and transportation sectors. John is a chartered accountant (ICAEW) and chartered treasurer (AMCT) and has a BA in American history with politics from the University of East Anglia.
