Richard Thompson
Richard joined Foresight in 2012 and is a Partner in the London office. He has over 15 years’ investment experience in renewable energy and core infrastructure.
He is responsible for raising and deploying capital for Foresight’s diversified Energy Infrastructure strategy which encompasses renewable generation, renewable enabling infrastructure and transmission. Richard has overseen all of Foresight’s investments into the flexible generation, storage and wind sectors to date. Richard was heavily involved in the early growth of Foresight’s UK solar business and co-led the Initial Public Offering of Foresight Solar Fund Limited. On first joining Foresight, Richard had responsibility for the firm’s PFI investments and managed a retail focused secondary market PFI fund.
Prior to Foresight, Richard worked for a leading PFI investor and led the equity investment into PPP infrastructure assets with aggregate value in excess of £1 billion across the UK and Canada. This included investing balance sheet capital, securing co-investment partners and structuring project finance and capital markets financing solutions for greenfield infrastructure assets.
Richard holds a BA in Economics from the University of Liverpool and is a CFA Charterholder.
