Severin Buchwald
Severin Buchwald is a Senior Expert in Sustainable Finance at MEAG, the asset manager of Munich Re. He coordinates the further development of the overarching ESG strategy and its implementation in guidelines and directives. In addition, he is responsible for the integration of ESG aspects in investments in alternative assets and supports due diligence processes as a subject matter expert.
Severin Buchwald has been working at the interface between the financial sector and sustainability since 2014. He has been involved in integrating ESG into insurance, credit and investment transactions at leading German financial institutions. He has also gained practical experience at the United Nations and a social venture capital fund.
After studying social science at Maastricht University (B.A.) and the Technical University of Munich (M.Sc.), Severin Buchwald worked for an international consulting and auditing firm in the area of sustainability services and in the investment function of an institutional investor. Since 2023, he has been a lecturer in the DVA's “Certified Sustainability Officer” certificate course.

With representations in Europe, Asia and North America, MEAG also offers its extensive expertise to institutional investors and private clients from outside the Group. MEAG currently manages assets to the value of around €345 billion, including €61 billion for private and other institutional investors.
