Severin Buchwald is the Head of Alternatives ESG Integration at MEAG, the asset manager of Munich Re. He is responsible for operational excellence through robust ESG processes, and meaningful ESG data, analytics and insights to leverage sustainability factors to unlock financial value in alternative portfolios.

Severin Buchwald has worked at the intersection of finance and sustainability since 2014. He has contributed to the integration of ESG considerations into insurance, credit, and investment processes across leading German financial institutions, and gained additional experience at the United Nations and a social venture capital fund.

He holds a B.A. in social sciences from Maastricht University and an M.Sc. from the Technical University of Munich. Since 2023, Severin has also served as a lecturer in the DVA’s “Certified Sustainability Officer” program.

MEAG

MEAG is the asset manager of MunichRe Group. With representations in Europe, Asia and North America, MEAG also offers its extensive expertise to institutional investors and private clients from outside the Group. MEAG currently manages assets to the value of around €363 billion, including €62 billion for private and other institutional investors.
