Emily Chien
Emily Chien is a technologist, senior advisor, and strategic leader with deep strategic and operating experience spanning AI ventures, Fortune 500 companies, and private equity partnerships. She bridges technology, business, and innovation to accelerate value creation at scale. Currently, she serves as an Executive Fellow at Harvard Business School, specializing in the transformative impact of Generative and Agentic AI—driving innovation, corporate governance, and enterprise adoption.
A longtime AI champion, Emily was named a 2021 AI Fellow at the World Economic Forum in the Responsible Use of Technology/AI. Previously, she was a leader and practitioner in the IBM global AI financial services and sustainability practices, forging AI strategies and solutions serving investment, insurance, asset management, banking and climate risk management clients.
Earlier in her career, Emily held senior operating roles with JPMorgan, Fidelity Investments, Prudential Financial, and American Express. She has been a guest speaker at Harvard Law School, Princeton, UNGA, and IFRS, and serves on the IFRS Advisory Council and advises its AI Center of Excellence. She is also a member of the Economic Club of New York, Harvard Engineering School Dean's Advisory Council on CleanTech and senior editor of the Harvard ALI Social Impact Review. Emily holds a U.S. patent for digital technologies now widely used by Amazon.com and other global platforms.
She earned both her B.S. and M.S. degrees in Accountancy, MIS, and AI from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
