John Anderson
John Anderson is a 35-year lender in private debt markets, and has helped guide Manulife’s extension into private credit markets over the last 8 years.
The Manulife life insurance companies include a $310 billion global investment portfolio.
- This portfolio includes Manulife’s life insurance companies in their home market Canada, their largest single market the US, and their fastest growing market Asia.
- New life insurance sales in Asia can be 70% of Manulife’s global new business.
- John is a member of Manulife’s Global Leadership Team and of the investment committee for this global life insurance portfolio.
In addition to his responsibility for the overall investment portfolio, John has specific responsibility for in-house investment teams, including
- $150 billion investment-grade corporate lending program across private placement and public bond markets that includes 2,000 borrowers around the world, and
- $26 billion infrastructure equity investment program.
Prior to joining Manulife through their Infrastructure Team in 2001, John worked for ten years as an infrastructure lending officer and debt advisor, arranging financing in both developed and developing economies from the New York and London offices of JP Morgan Chase.
John holds an MBA from Georgetown University and received his BA in Economics from The University of Chicago.
