Richard Elder
Richard Elder is a Managing Director-Partner and Head of Global Portfolio Solutions (GPS). He is based in Washington, D.C.
Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Elder served as Executive Vice President, Strategy & Growth and Chief Transformation Officer at Nouryon. He was responsible for helping to develop and integrate Nouryon’s Global Transformation program, with a focus on Strategy, Growth and Commercial Excellence. Prior to Nouryon, Mr. Elder spent 25-years at McKinsey & Company, where he was a senior partner in its Washington, D.C., office and a leader in its Transformation, Private Equity and Organization practices. He brings extensive experience in transformation processes and strategy development and has applied his private- and public-sector experience to help global industrial, manufacturing, aerospace, and defense organizations develop new strategies and implement large-scale transformations. He started his career as an officer for the US Air Force.
Mr. Elder has been a board member for more than 10 years with Athletes for Hope, which connects professional athletes with charitable causes.
Mr. Elder holds a B.S. in Mathematics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA with honors from the Darden School at the University of Virginia.
