Tony Buffum
Tony Buffum is Owner and CEO of NextGen People Solutions where he provides strategic HR expertise and Thought Leadership to organizations looking to acceleration their transformation into the Future of Work. He advises more than 10 HR Tech and Flexible Work startups in strategy, enterprises sales and marketing. He is also the Fractional CHRO at Horizon Five, a professional services startup focused on data analytics and finance transformation. Tony is a Co-Founder of Human Cloud, a flexible work platform that connects enterprises and providers by standardizing trust and transparency. As an experienced leader in HR strategy, flexible and on-demand talent programs, Tony has led workforce transformations in Fortune 500 companies and advised HR and Procurement leaders in modernizing their workforce planning strategy.
Tony has spoken at many conferences on these topics that meet at the intersection of talent and technology, including the Semper Virens HR Advisor Summit, SHRM Annual, SHRM Talent, HR Tech, Staffing Industry Analysts and more. He's served as Chairman at Private Equity International's Human Capital Summit and their Operating Partners Forum, as well as several times at universities and delivered keynote presentations for many corporate functional summits and annual meetings.
Tony is an accomplished HR professional with more than two decades of experience leading global HR teams as well as driving transformational change in company culture, organizational design, performance management, and employee integration and engagement. He held a series of noteworthy leadership positions including chief human resources officer (CHRO) at FLIR Systems, VP of global human resources at STANLEY Security, VP of human resources at Stanley Black & Decker and various HR positions at General Electric. Following his time in HR, Tony was the VP of HR Client Strategy at Upwork, the world's largest talent marketplace, where he was a Thought Leader and evangelist for "Talent Access" strategies leveraging independent talent. Tony graduated from Cornell University with a BS in Industrial & Labor Relations and resides in Charleston, South Carolina.
