Derek is a Partner and Head of Credit.  He joined Apax in 2024 and is based in London.
 
Prior to joining Apax, Derek was a Managing Director and Head of European Credit at CPPIB, where he built and led a direct credit platform across multiple strategies.  He was Chair of the European Credit Investment Committee, on the global Credit Investment Committee and on the global Private Equity Committee.  He was previously a Managing Director at Davidson Kempner, a distressed credit and event-driven hedge fund, and previously worked as an Executive Director at Alcentra.  Derek has been active in the credit markets for several decades, and started his career in accounting and advisory firms in corporate finance and restructuring.
 
Derek holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from the University of British Columbia, and is a Chartered Professional Accountant.
