Katja Friedrichs

Katja is responsible for driving the implementation of DEG's impact and climate strategy within the infrastructure and energy division. With more than 13 years of experience in emerging and frontier market investments, she has developed a deep understanding of sector-specific decarbonization pathways.

In her role, Katja works closely with investment teams and clients to integrate climate considerations into investment decisions and support the transition toward low-carbon and climate-resilient business models. She has extensive experience in climate strategy, impact measurement, and the development of practical approaches for embedding sustainability into investment processes. Prior to her current role, she worked as a research assistant at the Impact Institute of EBS University and has lectured on climate strategy at university level. Combining academic expertise with hands-on investment experience, Katja helps translate climate ambitions into actionable solutions that support sustainable growth and measurable impact across emerging and developing markets.
