Brian Malliet

Brian Malliet is the CEO, CIO, and founder of BKM Capital Partners. As a leader on BKM's Investment Committee, he has guided the firm's strategic growth, scaling the platform into the largest multi-tenant light industrial owner and operator in the United States and building a leading fully vertically integrated operating platform spanning 20 regional US markets.
Malliet has more than 35 years of commercial real estate and investment experience with expertise in small and mid-bay light industrial. He has acquired over 300 light industrial and multi-use logistics assets in the U.S. valued at over $9 billion and has facilitated over 200 million square feet of real estate transactions over his career.
In 2009, Malliet oversaw and brokered the sale of BKM Development Company to Voit Real Estate Services (VRES) and assumed the positions of Co-Owner and Chief Investment and Operations Officer of the new venture. During his tenure in this role, Malliet spearheaded VRES' operational development by expanding the company from three to ten offices and establishing the capital investment, property management, and asset management divisions. In the wake of the worst economic recession since the 1930s, VRES doubled in size, and revenue increased 300 percent under Malliet's leadership, allowing expansion into new markets, and an increased market share in existing markets.

Prior to his position at VRES, Malliet founded BKM Development Company, a full-service real estate development company specializing in acquisition, development, construction, property repositioning, and asset management services in 2003. Malliet maximized his firm's efficiency and profitability by building and directing an experienced team of managers, who generated more than $310 million of office and industrial properties in California and Utah, as well as optimizing his broker network to cultivate his firm's pipeline of deal flow. In 2006, BKM Development Company was distinguished as one of the top three commercial real estate developers in Orange County, CA.
Additionally, prior to the founding of BKM Development Company, Malliet served as the Vice President of Development and Acquisitions of VRES. In this capacity, he oversaw all aspects of acquisition, underwriting, development, execution, and capital raising. In his first year, Malliet completed transaction activity in Southern California sufficient to outperform all but one REIT. Within five years, Malliet acquired
and developed more than five million square feet of commercial real estate valued at more than $460 million.
Malliet's experience in commercial real estate began at Voit Commercial Brokerage in 1988. During his 12 years as a leasing and investment broker, Malliet was distinguished as one of the "Top 5" producers for over a decade. During this time, Malliet facilitated the lease or sale of more than $750 million and 154 million square feet of commercial real estate in Southern California.

Malliet holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from San Diego State University and is a member of NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association.
