Mr. Atwater is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Prime Finance and a member of the Investment Committees for each strategy. Mr. Atwater founded Prime Residential in 1989. Mr. Atwater has been involved with all forms of property ownership, management, and financing. A graduate of Brown University and the Stanford Graduate School of Business, he has served on a variety of for-profit and non-profit boards, including Montgomery Street Income Securities, Lone Mountain School for Children, The Hamlin School, The California Academy of Sciences (Board Chair 2010 – 2014), Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, the Corporation of Brown University, and the Policy Advisory Board of the Fisher Center for Real Estate and Urban Economics, UC Berkeley.

Prime Finance is a private commercial real estate credit manager with $15.7B of assets under management as of March 31, 2026. The company offers borrowers a diverse range of financing options across the capital stack, including originating floating rate, non-recourse bridge loans, investing in customized capital solutions and dislocated capital structures, and acquiring CMBS B-pieces. Since inception in 2008, Prime Finance has originated more than 900 loans and invested in excess of $100B of aggregate debt face value across more than 9,800 properties.
