Courtenay Durbridge

Portfolio Manager, Pension Protection Fund

Courtenay Durbridge is a Private Equity Portfolio Manager at the Pension Protection Fund, where she invests across global private equity funds and co-investments, including buyout, growth, secondaries, lower mid-market buyout and Asia-focused strategies. Since joining the PPF in 2017, she has progressed through analyst and associate roles to become responsible for fund and co-investment commitments, manager selection, portfolio construction and portfolio oversight. Her work spans the full investment lifecycle, from sourcing and diligence through to investment committee engagement, execution and long-term monitoring.

Courtenay brings a distinctive combination of investment, valuation, accounting and technical expertise. Before joining the PPF, she held analyst roles at M&G and Baring Asset Management, and previously worked as a management accountant at the University of Bedfordshire. This breadth of experience gives her a strong foundation in financial analysis, reporting discipline and institutional investment decision-making. In 2024, Courtenay was shortlisted for Investment Manager of the Year at the Professional Pensions Women in Pensions Awards, recognising her contribution to private markets investing and her growing impact within the pensions investment sector.

Alongside her investment career, Courtenay has built a significant academic profile with a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Leicester and an MSc in Space Engineering from Cranfield University, which she completed with distinction while working. Her postgraduate research focused on the commercial application of space technology, including the use of high-altitude pseudo-satellites to support the detection of illicit supply chains.

She is also active in the broader investment community, with involvement in organisations including Level 20, 100 Women in Finance and ILPA. At the PPF, she has supported colleagues as a mentor over several years, reflecting her commitment to developing others and contributing to a more inclusive investment industry.
